
On Wednesday March 17th 6pm, at the Law School classroom #2, Joan Lebold Cohen will give a lecture on a number of high profile female artists from China in Half the Sky: Chinese Women Artists in the 1990's and the Millennium.
Joan Lebold Cohen is an art historian and photographer who specializes in Chinese Art and Film. Her travels to China commenced soon after Nixon's visit and she lived there during the dramatic, post Cultural Revolution period of 1978-81. Her book The New Chinese Painting 1949-1986 introduced the recent generations of Chinese artists to the West. Joan Lebold Cohen is co-author with her husband, Jerome Alan Cohen, of China Today and her Ancient Treasures[ 3rd ed. 1986]. Joan Lebold Cohen is currently a research fellow at Harvard University's Fairbanks Center for East Asian Studies.
